LAUNDRY
“Well-paced, with a clear narrative arc and some terrific, playful moments of theatricality”
- The Spy in the Stalls
London’s East End, 1950.
It’s wash day.
Five women hang their laundry on the communal line. Though they are neighbours, they are not friends. Each harbours a shameful secret they would rather keep hidden. But each of them know more about what’s going on next door than they would dare to confess.
What length will they have to go to to keep their reputations clean, and stop their dirty laundry from being aired out for the world to see.
“It’ll all come out in there wash.”
LAUNDRY premiered at STYX arts space in 2018 and transferred to The Space Arts Centre in 2019 to sell out audiences.
“Laundry is an impassioned and ambitious debut from this young company, bursting with talent and drive. It would be exciting to see where all this creative energy could go”
- The Spy in the Stalls
“This is a hard-hitting piece with several uncomfortably disturbing scenes, it is complemented by character-driven humour with some laugh-out-loud moments.”
